Hammer Chillers is a new horror anthology series that will premiere in June 2013. It’s going to be available first as 30-minute weekly downloadable audio episodes from the Hammer website, and then the collected series will also be released on CD, with special bonus material.

A quote from the press release – ‘Writers for the first series include some of the biggest names working in horror today (it says here): Stephen Volk (Ghostwatch, The Awakening), Mark Morris (Toady, Vampire Circus), Stephen Gallagher (Chimera, The Eleventh Hour), Christopher Fowler (The Bryant and May Mysteries), Paul Magrs (The Brenda and Effie Mysteries, Doctor Who) and comedian Robin Ince (Radio 4’s The Infinite Monkey Cage).’

This was a great project for me as I grew up watching Hammer films in cinemas, something I feel sad that no-one can do today, and of course they entirely lose their collective fairytale power when separated out and played on TV. The new Hammer is making all the right moves, picking projects carefully and paying them loving attention. I’m hoping this will prove a hit for them and will continue as a series. This new Hammer seems incredibly solid indeed, and I hope this “incarnation” lasts for a good, long while. I’ve already enjoyed two of their new imprint’s books, as well as Wakewood and the Woman in Black (even though I completely agreed with your arguments about the ending),and I enjoy radio drama. I’ll prick my ears up with this in june then! Cheers-!

Will this series be available to us on this side? Why not after all. Bryant and May are Horror?
