The Friday Song…
…is arriving late owing to a signal failure at Waterloo. Your song will now appear as the Sunday Song, several versus shorter than the scheduled song, on Saturday afternoon. This is because I’m going to visit friends for the weekend, and it would be rude to take my laptop.
There are plenty of reasons to celebrate today with a bit of music. After two months my eyesight has fully returned, better than before. I can now work out, fly, and write without having to screw up one eye. After two months grounded, one spent lying on my side, I weigh an extra 5kg so I shall be expending a lot of energy over spring!
The London weather is freakishly glorious, so how about this little number from the French satire ‘Agathe Clery’, in which a racist female business executive turns black? It’s in French so a quick explanatory note: The boss’s colleagues try to half-heartedly apologise for her racist behaviour to her new intern. The boss doesn’t like Tunisians, Algerians or Moroccans (or anyone else) but apart from that, honestly, she’s not a racist.
I thought it was a very sharp and charming film about entrenched French attitudes. Unsurprisingly, it flopped in France and never opened in the UK.
