Jesus and Guns 2

Christopher Fowler
gun-jesus Here's a Christmas thought. The Revd Dr Graham Standish has this to say on 'What Gun Would Jesus Carry?',
the subject that's on the tips of everyone's tongues (or at least on
Fox News): 'Christians face a dilemma when it comes to guns. Would Jesus agree with the National Rifle Association's approach (...) by encouraging more people to wield guns? Does the Bible support this? In fact, do Christians consider even Jesus and the Bible when working through this issue? It certainly could be argued that Christianity is entirely consistent with possessing guns for hunting and self-defense. But being Christian also means resolving problems peacefully, to the point of willingly giving up possessions and obsessions for the welfare of others. Should Christians be willing to limit, or even forgo, their access to guns, especially if it might reduce gun deaths? Christians are called to be healers and peacemakers, to turn the other cheek, to bless their enemies and to respond to evil with self-sacrifice and love, rather than violence. How do guns fit with these teachings? Can we love guns more than we love people? These are questions with which Christians, and non-Christians, must grapple.' A fascinating question, and one which goes a long way to explaining why British churches are empty.

Holy Crap! That's an illustration.
"Lock, load and love."
I suspect there are a lot of pickup trucks out there that would love to have that as a back window decal.

Praise the lord, and pass the ammunition.

Surprised not to have heard that where I live.(yet) There are way more guns than people in our neck of the woods. Also a lot of confederate flags. Good policy NOT to discuss politics or religion without being sure of your companions. There is a standing reward to the person who brings down the 1st drone. Its said Pat Robertson protects us from hurricanes. Tough place to be progressive.

Jaysus would only carry a pair of Colt revolvers!

For does it not say in the book of Matthew, chapter 5, verse 9, "Blessed are the Peacemakers".

[He'd never run out of ammo either.]

Abby: Do you live in the southwestern portion of my state? Pat Robertson lives about the middle and I'm outside the beltway. Just asking; no need to answer.

Snowy, that is truly dreadful. When this whole topic comes up I just sigh deeply and walk away because where would you start?
