Celebrity Corner

So, Cameron and Daisy, separated at birth, much?

Over the years I’ve worked with quite a lot of film stars, and only a handful are really charismatic. The other night I was standing next to Chris Hemsworth at a party and my God he exudes stardom. It’s an acid test, being beside an actor in civvies and seeing if they still have the radiant-charisma thing. Tiny gum-snapping Tom Cruise was the least impressive (when I first saw him I thought someone had called for a minicab), and Daniel Craig looks less like 007 than a bloke who’s come to do your patio. Cate Blanchett, Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman came out as the classiest dames.

The Hemsworth party was held in the Royal Courts of Justice, but I was really more interested in seeing the justices’ robe displays, which had been lit with party lights – a very surreal experience (click to enlarge).

I saw one of those ‘totallylookslike’ pics that had Joan Rivers paired off with Lambchop from The Shari Lewis Show. It completely ruined my day, and I still have nightmares. Poor Lambchop.

Gretta: Cut me some slack here, but Joan Rivers and Shari Lewis and Lambchop – to me – that’s truly scary. Burrr…

Lambchop looks more natural than Joan Rivers these days.

That black and gold number in the centre of the bottom photo now who would wear that? It even has a train! I saw a photo of a graduation ceremony at one of the British Universities and noticed that the chancellor’s gown, which was very like this one, was exactly like that of the chancellor at my west coast Unie. I wonder if there is a rule somewhere which says what the chancellor should wear. Even French costumes are similar except that they have more interesting head gear.
