First Rule Of Book Club: Look It Up

London, Reading & Writing

Want to face a really tough book challenge? How about a pub quiz at the British Library?

The annual Christmas quiz is part of the institution’s TalkScience series, six audiovisual rounds on science trivia, bookable in advance (£2 per person for teams of up to five). The fun starts at 6pm.

That’s the tip of the Christmas Quiz iceberg this season, with hundreds of events happening all over the capital, probably in your local – it’s best to walk around and make notes, because there’s no central database listing them all.

Cheers for the plug (I wrote the questions). Not many are about books, but it should be a lot more fun and inventive than the typical pub quiz. And a chance to drink booze in the Library!

Why didn’t pub quizzes come to North America? Blake and Newton is such a wonderful mix – one of my favourite statues.
Don’t forget to wish Steve a Happy Birthday today.

I was going to ask about the theme for the statue. It’s right and proper that libraries have interesting frontages. I recently saw a picture of the giant books that make up that in Kansas City and now this. Worth an image google.

    Happy Birthday Steve!

    Oh, wait….that’s me….
