Celebrity 20: Art Imitates Death

The Arts

When I wrote ‘Celebrity’ I knew it would be topical. I thought the script was a little over the top, but I didn’t realise that real life would get even weirder on the subject. Hollwood press agent Ronni Chasen was gunned down in LA, and now a ‘person of interest’ to the case, in the guarded words of the police, has shot himself dead. As Helena screams in the play ‘I’m a press agent, nervous tension is all that keeps me alive!’ It seems she was speaking the truth.

Meanwhile, what happened backstage that causes the cast to nightly chant ‘There was nothing ladylike about Helena’ (one of the play’s opening lines) every time that actress arrives for the night’s performance? I’ll never tell!

We’re completely sold out now, but if the heavy snow creates any returns for the last night, I’ll Tweet them – trust me, it’s going to be hilarious!

Sort of on and off topic….does anyone have a clue why the Daily Mail website contains almost no UK news, yet has tons of US news – mostly bad?

  2. Helen Martin says:

Do we know what news service they subscribe to? That might account for it.

Not a clue. I thought perhaps it was an anti-American plot. Then again, if I want real news (British or otherwise), what the hell am I doing looking at the Daily Mail website??? Well??? Explain this to me!
