Celebrity 15: Goodbye Rehearsal, Hello Venue

The Arts

Well, our intrepid actors have left their rehearsal room in the upstairs of The Pineapple pub, and are heading for our venue to start the technical rehearsals there. Next come the set, lights, props, costumes, hair & makeup (including a wig) and sound cues. So far everyone on the production team has been wonderful, but the Evening Standard managed to screw up our ad campaign. It goes to show there’s always something that can go wrong…

Victoria, Mark, Neil and Lucy, our cast, are now all terrific, and have found funny (and sad) things in the script I never imagined. I wish I could write my books with them sitting beside me, helping me on dialogue. Amber, our director and Martin, our designer, now have to get the setting to work. The venue is ‘intimate’ (small but normal for fringe) and I’m getting ready to put my regular work evenings on hold when we go into the run.

Next week – a couple of surprises and special offers for ‘Celebrity’, right here!

‘Celebrity’ runs Nov 23 – Dec 4 (Nightly 7:30pm, Matinees Sat 4:00pm, No perfs Sun, Mon) The Phoenix Artist Club,1 Phoenix Street, London, WC2H 0DT. (Off Charing Cross Road next to the Phoenix Theatre) Tickets: £10

Looked at The Pineapple (if it’s the one holding the corner at Cosser and Hercules). Beautiful purple colour and real ale and food all day. Fine place if you don’t need wheelchair access, but you could use the tables outside, although not just now, I’m guessing. Just thought I’d give them a boost, since you seemed reasonably happy with the facilities and treatment. Holding our breath collectively for the Fringe reviews.

wishing everyone all the very best! See you Tuesday!
