Newbies Start Here

Observatory, The Arts

Looks like we’ve picked up some new readers! That’s a welcome sign, and saves me sodding about on Facebook. Just to orientate you, the Blog is the heart of this rather atypical author’s site. Here you’ll find a hard core of redoubtable and erudite commentators, a few slightly batty readers, and plenty to argue about. We like to think of ourselves as one big happy dysfunctional family, slow to anger, quick to praise, united by a desire to read and see good stories, wherever they come from, whoever makes them.

You’ll find nearly a thousand posts here on subjects ranging from books, films, art, politics, London and people, with the odd song and dance thrown in. Speaking of which, let’s have one of those right now. It’s a nifty visual guide to a Cole Porter song, and the reason for posting it will be explained shortly.

    Erudite?

I just got an email from Amazon, telling me by recent order has been dispatched. Apparently it’s called “Bryant and May on the Loos”.

    Hur hur hur.

    …who are you calling ‘batty’??

Hear, hear, Anne! When I read that “slightly batty readers” statement, I did look about shiftily to see if I was a batty suspect. Which wasn’t the point of the piece at all, but obviously some of us seem to be easily sidetracked…

We’re all colourful background coves in this Ealing production.

It takes a village to run a blog.
