Rocky’s Other Shows

Richard O’Brien says Frank N Furter was probably based on his mother – he’s talking about a revived Rocky Horror and The Stripper, a later musical that’s just getting its revival around town
here. The Rocky Horror Show has always been in my life – I went to its opening night at the old cinema in Chelsea, and to the midnight premiere of ‘Shock Treatment’, the ill-fated follow-up which now seems rather quaint and slow from this trailer. I seem to recall that O’Brien wrote another short-lived musical set on a desert island, or did I imagine it? Few scores were more perfectly complete than Rocky Horror’s – who knew it would survive for 35 years (and counting)?

Have you forgotten the Return of Captain Invincible? With Alan Arkin and Christopher Lee singing Richard’s songs?
